Lisa Week 1: Cop Out
Did I really complete the challenge this week in the way I had envisioned? No, not at all. But I was way more aware of the people around me than I usually am.
I ended up *officially* counting Greta's former mission companion & her husband who we ran into on a walk (Does it count if Greta knows my strangers? I guess we get to make the rules, so yes). We talked to them for wayyy more than 3 minutes. I found out they love Disneyland and go twice a year. He is graduating this month; she is still in school, and also working doing graphic design and marketing type stuff for a nail salon. His parents are serving in the Salt Lake homeless ward. I didn't even know that was a thing. I don't really remember much else from the conversation. Probably because I was too excited throughout the whole conversation that I had talked to a stranger for more than 3 minutes & wouldn't have to admit failure.
Other notable conversations with strangers this week:
- The Librarian - Did you know that some people really do get close to the 100 item check-out limit?
- Cup Lady - After I almost ran her over with my shopping cart, Cup Lady and I had an entire conversation about the importance of having strong plastic cups at kids' parties. One time she didn't have strong cups and a little boy squeezed his cup and got covered in punch and his mom got mad at Cup Lady (which is dumb). We squeezed all of the cups in the cup aisle until we found the *perfect* ones.
- Maverick Man - Maverick employees do not know if $1 summer drinks are coming back. Bummer.
- Park Kid 1 - "Why are you here?" Okayyy, I get it; I don't fit here, kid. Get over it.
- Park Kid 2 - "Does your face hurt?" No? "Because it's killing me!" Hahahahaha
Love,
Lisa
